Travis Kelce tries to stay focused on the game before Super Bowl LVIII.
While there was some speculation that the NFL star would be in the arms of girlfriend Taylor Swift at this weekend’s Grammy Awards, Kelce confirmed that he would not be in attendance on the biggest night in music.
“I wish I could support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every award she’s nominated for, but I guess I have to practice on Sunday,” he said during an interview on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday.
This year, Swift is nominated for six awards, including Record of the Year and Album of the Year.
“Unfortunately, I have to get ready for the big Super Bowl we have this week,” the tight end added. While Kelce didn’t join Swift at the Grammys, it remains to be seen if he’ll be able to make it to the Super Bowl to support Kelce.
Although Kelce and Swift’s relationship caused a stir, the athlete told McAfee that his personal life would not be a distraction on the court.
“Football is my main focus at the moment,” he said. “There are a lot of people who are counting on me… and what’s more, it’s in my heart to be able to put everything I have on the field.”
The Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, February 11, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
It remains unclear whether Swift will appear at the big game to support Kelce.
Although he has performed at Chiefs games this season, he will perform at Toyko the night before the Super Bowl.
