Storm Jocelyn Will Follow Hard After Storm Isha

After the latest winter storm hit the UK with torrential rain and winds reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour, another storm is on the way within 36 hours.

The Met Office had issued an unusual wind warning for the whole country ahead of Cyclone Isha, which reached its peak overnight after wind gusts exceeded forecasts of 90 miles per hour.

The blow knocked out power and caused flooding along the river valley, leaving tens of thousands of people without power and hundreds of trains grounded.

Isha is the ninth named storm since September and the 10th storm – named Jocelyn by Irish forecaster Met Eireann – will bring more wind and rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The UK and Ireland hurricane season started with Agnes at the end of September and was followed by storms Babet, Ciarán, Debi, Elin, Fergus, Gerrit, Henk and now Isha.

And one more…

Storm Jocelyn was named by @MetEireann.

This storm will not be as strong as Storm Isha, but will still cause enough disruption in northern England due to heavy rain and strong winds. https://t.co/7aGuyUAxRv

Isha littered roads and railway tracks with fallen trees that posed mortal danger and obstructed travel, disrupting morning commutes.

Two riders died. On Sunday evening, an 84-year-old male passenger in a car in Scotland and a van driver in his 60s in Northern Ireland were killed when their vehicle hit a fallen tree.

Planes bound for several airports were diverted, including flights bound for Dublin which ended in France.

Here are pictures of the chaos wreaked by the latest storm.
