A couple who have been together for almost two years have revealed that they still haven’t kissed and that they’re waiting for marriage to lock lips – insisting that the lack of physical touch has positively impacted their ‘balanced, healthy, and loving relationship.’

Kaytlin O’Neall, 22, from Little Elm, Texas, has sparked a major debate on the internet after she admitted that she and her boyfriend of nearly two years, Drew, have yet to share in a smooch.

She insisted that the decision to avoid the ‘intimate’ interaction has made their romance even stronger, and that it ‘doesn’t mean they don’t love each other any less.’

She first opened up about their choice in a TikTok video in which she responded to some of  the backlash she has gotten about it from her friends – and the clip quickly went viral, gaining more than two million views in a matter of days and leaving many people on the web divided.

‘Things people have said when they find out me and my boyfriend of almost two years haven’t kissed,’ she wrote in the video, as some of the comments she has received popped across the screen.

‘For real?!’ read one, while another said, ‘That must take some self control.’

‘You know you can just kiss, it’s not the end of the world,’ said another response, while a fourth message read, ‘OK, but what else do y’all do?’

In a follow-up video, Kaytlin, who is a devout Christian, explained that she knows she is ‘not impure’ and that she won’t ‘go to Hell’ if she kisses her boyfriend, but said that she’s ‘doing it because of her own personal convictions’ and because she ‘wants to do what’s best for her.’

‘The bible is not very clear cut on what to do and what not to do with little tiny details – especially in relationships,’ she explained.

‘Obviously, the bible is very clear on not to have sex outside of marriage, but as far as other little details go – like kissing, holding hands, all that stuff – there’s not a clear cut rule book.

‘I feel like conviction is a very big factor in relationships and other little details of our lives. I think if we can follow our convictions than we will always stay within the realm of where the lord is wanting us to be and wanting to lead us.’

The TikToker explained that she decided to save kissing for her ‘future husband’ since it’s ‘such an intimate thing.’

Before she and Drew started dating, she made her plans to avoid kissing clear to him, and she said he was ‘so receptive of it’

‘A lot of people don’t view it that way but for me personally, I felt like that wasn’t something I had to save, but something I wanted to,’ she continued. ‘I wanted to save that for him, I wanted to save everything for him.’

Before she and Drew – who were best friends for years – started dating, she asked to have a ‘sit down conversation’ with him in which she made her plans to avoid kissing clear to him.

And while she admitted she was ‘kind of nervous’ to voice her feelings and how he might react to them, she said he was ‘so receptive of it.’

‘He was like, “I wanted to save that as well,”‘ she said. ‘So we have gone forward in our relationship not kissing and it has helped us uplift one another and helped encourage one another in our common goal.’

The 22-year-old wanted people to know that she was judging others for choosing to smooch, but wanted to make the videos to let people know that there are ‘different ways’ to do things.

‘That’s why I’m making this video, to show people that you can have a balanced, healthy, loving relationship without doing it the way the world tells you you have to do it,’ she added.

‘It’s not because my Christianity or my religion tells me I have to do it this way – I’m doing it because of my own personal convictions and because I want to do what’s best for me. And me and Drew want to do what’s best for one another.’

In response to those who called their relationship a ‘glorified friendship’ rather than a romance, she insisted that there is more to their love than physical touch

When a commenter asked Drew if he was gay and claimed that ‘no straight man’ would ‘comply with this bulls**t,’ he replied, ‘Absolutely not. Heck no’

In response to those who called their relationship a ‘glorified friendship’ rather than a romance, she insisted that there is more to their love than physical touch.

‘We both love each other and just because we do not kiss doesn’t mean we love each other any less and it doesn’t make our relationship any less valid,’ she stated.

‘You can do things differently, you do not have to have a relationship to the standards of what the world says your relationship has to look like.

‘It can still be so healthy and balanced and prosperous even without certain physical elements.’

Drew added: ‘We were best friends and then we fell in love. Everything that we do is to protect and to look forward to more in the future. I want to marry this girl with every fiber of my being, believe me.’

Many people took to the comment section to share their thoughts on the matter, with some bashing her decision and others supporting her.

‘Girl, that is your friend of two years,’ wrote one person, while another added, ‘Gonna be disappointed when you get married and realize you don’t have a real physical connection like you thought you would. Happens with most of these.’

‘He’s crying inside,’ said someone else, while a fourth comment read, ‘Dude definitely has another girl.’

‘First week of marriage is gonna be so awkward,’ commented a different user.

‘How is bro in the friend zone and secured the bag at the same time?’ asked another person.

‘I don’t understand how you can be in a relationship without any romance,’ read a different comment. ‘Like, what makes your partner stand out from your friends?’

However, others defended Kaytlin and Drew’s decision. One person wrote, ‘I don’t know about y’all, but my relationship isn’t defined by tough. Y’all need to re-evaluate what love means to y’all. Let her live.’

‘I can’t believe people are complaining about what someone else does with their bodies and questioning the validity and boundaries of their relationship,’ said someone else.

Another added, ‘Not everyone wants someone else’s saliva in their mouth, leave this girl and her boyfriend alone.’

‘These comments trying to invalidate your relationship are sad,’ read another message. ‘Y’all do whatever makes your comfortable. Don’t feel pressured to do anything beyond that.’
