Having impressed viewers in the UK for more than a decade with her roles in Our Girl, Ten Pound Poms and, of course, Coronation Street, Michelle Keegan has found a new audience overseas thanks to her role in drama Fool Me Once.
The Netflix miniseries began airing last month, and is still one of the platform’s most-watched shows in the weeks since, with users still enjoying watching the wild twists and turns that occur.
During a new interview with Variety, Michelle was asked if she found anything in the script “too crazy,” and she joked: “Everything, to be fair. This is a little crazy.
“But Harlan Coben (who wrote the book on which Fool Me Once is based) really hooks you in the first few seconds and that’s why he’s so good. That’s why he’s one of the best thriller writers of our time.”
Later in the interview, Michelle revealed that even more action-packed scenes were filmed, which ended up on the cutting room floor.Michelle Keegan as Maya in Fool Me Once
“We had an amazing stunt double, who taught me the military moves that (Maya, Michelle’s character) knows, that could take someone down,” she said.
“There was a scene we did with three stunt doubles, but it didn’t make the final cut. Judith kidnaps Maya and Maya has to fight three people. I shot one and the other two ran.”
“Filming it was a lot of fun, but due to timing it didn’t work out. At least that’s what they told me. Maybe they thought it was too much to believe,” he added with a laugh.
Following the success of Fool Me Once, it was revealed that Netflix would be adapting more of Harlan Coben’s work, details of which were revealed last month.
Harlan Coben’s other projects currently streaming on the platform include Safe, Stay Close, and The Stranger.
