Jennifer Lopez Becomes Producer of Bob The Builder Film And… Sorry, What?!

A Bob The Builder movie is in the works, with music superstar and construction enthusiast Jennifer Lopez in the producing role.

On Thursday, Mattel Films – behind the recent smash hit Barbie movies – confirmed that a reworking of the classic children’s TV show is coming to the big screen.

The synopsis for the new film on Mattel’s website paints a picture: “When Roberto ‘Bob’ travels to the enchanting Island of Puerto Rico for a major construction job, he tackles issues affecting the island and digs deep into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the dynamic and colorful texture of the Latin Caribbean countries and their peoples.”

The film will be made in collaboration with J-Lo’s production company Nuyorican Productions, while In The Heights star Anthony Ramos will voice the character – originally played by Neil Morrissey – in the new version.

Anthony revealed that he looks forward to “bringing this important message to the big screen,” which will include “elements” inspired by his own life.

“A film about friends working together, a celebration of the beautiful home they share, and how love can help overcome any obstacles that stand in your way,” he enthuses.

“Can we fix it? Yes we can!”

Of course, Bob The Builder isn’t the only interesting film that includes Jennifer Lopez’s name.

The singer of Love Don’t Cost A Thing recently provided a teaser for the musical film This Is Me… Now: A Love Story which will accompany the album of the same name, with a somewhat confusing teaser trailer that became a lot of conversation earlier this month.
