More than four months after splitting from Hugh Jackman, Deborra-Lee Furness is looking to the future with optimism.
Appearing on the red carpet for the Sydney premiere of Force Of Nature: The Dry 2, starring Furness, the actor appeared in good spirits on Wednesday when perhaps alluding to her and Jackson’s divorce when she spoke to Australia’s Daily Telegraph.
“You know, change, transition, evolution is a little scary and we’re all a little afraid of it, but I think it’s probably our greatest gift,” Furness said. “This is very interesting.”
Furness and Jackman – who have a son and daughter, Oscar and Ava respectively – confirmed their split in a statement shared in September last year. The former couple just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in April.
“We were blessed to share nearly 3 decades together as husband and wife in a beautiful and loving marriage,” they said. “Our journeys are now changing and we have decided to go our separate ways to pursue our individual growth.”Furness attended the Sydney premiere of Force of Nature: The Dry 2. Furness and Jackman appear to have remained on good terms since then. According to People, Furness attended Jackman’s 55th birthday celebration in October.
Force Of Nature: The Dry 2 is Furness’ first acting project in eight years and stars fellow Australian actor Eric Bana. His last role was in the 2016 Australian TV series Hyde & Seek.
On what attracted her to Force Of Nature: The Dry 2, she told The Daily Telegraph: “For me, it was a strong female ensemble cast, a great director, I love Eric (Bana), coming home to Australia to shoot in wild nature. There were so many factors that appealed to me, a great script written by Jane Harper and directed by Robert Connolly.”
According to IMDb, Furness is also scheduled to appear alongside Anthony LaPaglia in Antibody Heat, an upcoming romantic comedy series set in New York during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
