Adele Roberts has revealed she is mourning the loss of her mother, Jackie, who died earlier this month.
On Sunday night, the former Radio 1 DJ delivered his first appearance on Dancing On Ice, describing his stint on the show as a “celebration of life” following his recent history of cancer treatment.
She ultimately topped the leaderboard, and after the performance, revealed on Instagram that the routine was dedicated to her late mother.
“I don’t want to say anything until I get through our routine tonight. “So I’m sorry if it seems like I’m too emotional,” wrote Adele. “My heart is broken and I miss my mother so much.
“Saying goodbye to him this week was one of the hardest things I have ever done. My mom was able to see the beginning of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honor.”
Adele continued: “To my family. Thank you for keeping my head up and giving me the strength to carry on. Thank you also to all the wonderful people who came to help us say goodbye to him this week. You give us so much comfort by standing by our side.
“Thank you to the entire amazing Dancing On Ice team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. Especially you (Mark Hanretty, Adele’s professional skating partner). I know how much you want to help me make my mom proud and I know that must have been on your mind all night. You are extraordinary
